A free book will be mailed to your child each month until age five, courtesy of the Foundation for Flint, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. Books will start arriving approximately 8 to 10 weeks after registration.
Yes. If there is more than one preschooler in your family, each child can be registered separately and will receive his/her own age-appropriate book.
Please let us know if you are moving within the eligible zip codes of 48501-07 and 48532! The Post Office will not forward books to your new address because they are mailed at book rate, so please notify us of your new address and the date you are moving as soon as possible. To change your address, please click here. Be sure to tell us the name of your child and your moving date.
After a change of an address in the database, it can take up to 2-3 months for the program to start mailing books to your new address. The Flint Public Library may be able to provide copies of books that were returned by the post office, so you may be able to pick up any missed books there.
If you move out of zip codes 48501-07 or 48532, your child is no longer eligible to participate in Flint’s program. If you would like your child to continue to receive books, you may go to the Imagination Library website to see if there is an Imagination Library program in your new community. Please let us know that you will be moving from Flint as soon as you know of your departure date.
The Frequently Asked Questions page may have answers to your questions, or go directly to the website of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to learn more. If you still have questions, you may email Flint Public Library’s DPIL team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Library at 810-232-7111 ext 2137.
