Does your child love to tinker? Love to fool with technology? At Flint Public Library, we help kids get creative so they can learn by doing!
Explore the hands-on classes and programs at FPL and then follow the links below to access online and downloadable resources you can use at home.
Circuits and Gadgets with LittleBits
Kids learn about electronics with snap-together circuits to create gadgets that light up, spin, buzz, beep and roll. Once they have the hang of it, they can begin coding to control their LittleBits creations.
We regularly schedule a series of STEM activities on successive Saturdays, so you can come week after week to explore science, technology, engineering and math in fun, creative ways.
Kids get a chance to be “makers” at FPL as part of almost every story time. Crafts and hands-on projects give children a chance to express their creativity and individuality, and to engage in imaginative play.
Hour of Code
Why should kids learn computer coding? It’s fun! And it teaches logic, experimentation, sequencing, and creative problem-solving. The Hour of Code has activities suitable for ages 4 to 104, to introduce kids and their families to coding. Watch the calendar for our Hour of Code sessions.
Coding with Scratch and Scratch Jr.
