Reading Journal

Have you ever picked up a book at the Flint Public library, only to wonder if you’ve already read it? Maybe you’re searching for the title of book you read three years ago so you can recommend it to a friend.  If so, you might think about starting a book journal.

A book journal can be as simple as a dollar store notebook or as detailed as an Excel spreadsheet with 25 cells.

When creating a book journal, make sure to include the following:

  • Author
  • Title
  • Date Read
  • Genre (Science Fiction, Mystery, Romance, etc.)
  • Rating

Want a more comprehensive journal? Include:

  • A written review or synopsis
  • Favorite quotes or lines
  • Who you would recommend this book to
  • Other books by this author you would like to read

OF NOTE: Due to privacy, the Flint Public Library does not automatically keep a record of the books patrons read, however, patrons have the option of selecting a setting in their library account which allows them to maintain their reading list. Just ask any staff member how to do this! Happy Reading!
